The rebuild for Berri’s Riverview Drive will now proceed following a community consultation process.
The section of Riverview Drive was damaged amid flood preparations last summer and has since been in state of disrepair.
The road will now be reconstructed as it was prior to the flood, which was the most favored option from the near 100 community responses.
Calls to raise the road to a higher level were considered, together with further options which included a bike & walking path.
A like-for-like rebuild already had funding secured, while the other options would have left council needing to find further funding into the millions, and would have added further rebuild timeline uncertainties.
Berri Barmera Council CEO Tim Pfeiffer thanked the community for its feedback saying “they have heard the community loud and clear that there is a preference for Riverview Drive to be fixed quickly and at a minimal cost to council,”
“The preferred option means there will be no funding shortfall and we look forward to returning the road to its pre-flood state as soon as possible.” Said Pfeiffer.
