Exports down for table grapes

The regions table grape producers could be seeing a drop in exports.

Outlined via a Rabobank report, exports of table grapes nationally dropped by 19% in the 2024 season, with demand from China, Vietnam & Thailand all falling.

RaboResearch analyst Pia Piggott said it had been an earlier-than-usual start to the 2024 export season, with weekly export volumes for the first 10 weeks of the year surpassing 2023 levels, “before falling below last year’s levels for the rest of the season”.

While the Riverland has fewer table grape producers than some years back, there has been recent renewed interest from some growers – partly attributed to a downturn in the wine grape industry.
