New data has revealed it’s getting harder to find a local GP who offers bulk billing.

The latest report from Cleanbill.com.au revealed bulk billing rates in SA have fallen to just 7.4%, while in 2023 the same report revealed 26% of clinics offered bulk billing.

Following the release of the report, Riverland based Senator Anne Ruston called the government to take urgent action to address decreasing rates of Bulk Billing.

Senator Ruston added further “it was unacceptable that more and more Australians are being forced to avoid essential healthcare because they just cannot afford it under Labor”.

In some positive news, SA did have the lowest out of pocket expense for a GP consult at $41.61, with the data provided by Cleanbill showing the average cost for a standard consult at Riverland GP clinics sitting between $83 & $97.
