Action needed for weed control

The local landscape board are calling for landholders to be on the lookout for some invasive weeds that may emerge following recent rainfall.

The three of concern are African boxthorn, Boneseed and Bridal creeper.

Recent rain is expected to see the plants grow in coming weeks, with early treatment key to protecting vital ecosystems

Jamie Courtney, Acting District Manager reminded landholders of their responsibility to control declared weeds.

“African boxthorn, boneseed and bridal creeper are all classified as declared, so landholders have an obligation to control any outbreaks on their property.

Landholders looking for assistance with weed identification and support are encouraged to contact the local Murraylands and Riverland landscape board district office in Berri.
